Field Trips

A Field Trip to the museum offers many opportunities for accessible, hands-on play and exploration. Dynamic exhibit spaces engage children of all ages in imaginative play, science and engineering, mathematics, experimentation, problem-solving and creativity.

PLEASE NOTE: We are booking now for Field Trips for all ages in our NEW unified Discovery Museum beginning in January of 2018. The Children’s Discovery Museum remains open through early December 2017. The Science Discovery Museum is currently closed for our major renovation.

Field Trips for Early Childhood Students

Preschool and Kindergarten

The Discovery Museum offers young students a chance to immerse themselves in developmentally-appropriate play, which is essential to early learning and overall healthy development. A warm and welcoming place to visit, every space provides a learning opportunity. Exciting and memorable hands-on exhibits connect curious learners to a wide variety of curriculum areas, while enthusiastic support from the museum staff encourages students and chaperones to explore, imagine, question, problem-solve, cooperate, and collaborate.

Field Trips for School-Age Students

Kindergarten through Grade 9

A Field Trip to the Discovery Museum is a compelling and fun way to introduce STEM themes and provide hands-on opportunities for students to practice science and engineering. Our programs encourage students to observe, question, investigate, problem-solve, examine evidence, and discuss findings. The hands-on exhibits and enthusiastic support from the education staff make learning exciting and memorable, while our topics and methods support the new Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Curriculum Framework
